They take him to Rome where he is forced to participate in a series of trials revolving around the Animus - a machine that translates the memories of his ancestors into a simulated reality. He’s a bartender living in the year 2012 until he’s kidnapped by agents from Abstergo Industries. The game begins with you playing as Desmond Miles. Your goal is to expose details of the fight between the Knights Templar and the Assassins over an important artifact known as the Apple of Eden. With a machine called the Animus, you can view and control the genetic memories of your ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. You will play a modern-day man named Desmond Miles. As the first entry to the Assassin's Creed series, this game introduces the characters during the Third Crusade to the Holy Land. The game is set in a fictional history wherein Assassins fight for peace with free will while the Templars desire peace through control. Assassin’s Creed is an action-adventure video game developed and published by Ubisoft.
